Finistère (29) is a french department located in Brittany. His name is Penn-ar-Bed in Breton.
He was called Finistère, by reference to the Benedictine abbey of Lokmazé [...] called in Latin "fine" or "Finibus Terrae" [1] (or the end of the earth), or more likely view the time course of which it gave its name.Prime coastal department of France, he has 118 coastal municipalities of 283 or more than one tenth of the French coastal municipalities, and 1,250 km of coastline, almost a quarter of the french coast.
The sea area to the west of Finistère is called the Iroise Sea. It includes several islands and islets which: Ouessant and Molène Archipelago, the island of Sein off the Pointe du Raz and the archipelago Glénan south. |
